We welcome our new Honorary Director,
Maestro Gerard Schwarz,
Music Director, Seattle Symphony.
The future of Classical Music is NOW.
Our major
public concerts listed below are the perfect opportunity to see what the Academy of Music Northwest offers to talented young artists as
the only comprehensive pre-college, classical music academy in the Pacific
Northwest, and to recognize the importance of the Academy of
Music Northwest to this community, and to this region.
Donations are essential to provide
opportunities for young artists.
The Academy proudly
celebrates its 11th year of having
every graduate accepted by major
U.S. music colleges & conservtories;
and where each graduate
received scholarship support!
We cannot do this without ongoing support from the
community.
We thank you for your support !
Please join us at these remarkable concerts:

In
Memoriam
Kent Coleman
(1955-2007)
Academy String Chair
1997-2007
March 31, 2008. Kent
Coleman was named an
MTNA Foundation
Fellow
at the MTNA National Conference in Denver,
CO.
Jan Coleman accepted the award on his behalf at the Gala
Awards Banquet.
Kent was also honored
in the March program of the
2008 Seattle Young Artists Music Festival:
"The Seattle music community lost a truly gifted educator
when Kent Coleman passed away in June, 2007 at the age of 52. Kent died
suddenly and unexpectedly from Hodgkin's disease, which he had lived with
for many years.
Kent was an inspirational violin teacher and a very
generous volunteer as a member of the Seattle Young Artists Music
Festival Association Music Advisory Panel. Kent served on thje panel for eleven years and made a
significant contribution to the growth and development of the
Festival.
We will all miss his guidance and devotion to our
organizatiion a well as the
incomparable standards and level of
achievement he set for both
violin teachers and
students."
The Academy continues to honor Kent, our founding
Academy String Chair and outstanding violin teacher.
A beautiful
service was held June 24th 2007,
at First Presbyterian Church of
Bellevue,
where Kent was also honored by former and current
students
who performed beautifully in unison and in solo works
for
over a thousand friends.
A Kent Coleman
Violin Scholarship Fund
has been established and remains
open for donations.
