Lindsay Hills, violin, a winner of the
Port Gardner Bay Chamber Orchestra
performed the Romance in G Major
by Beethoven at First Presbyterian
Church of Everett. Jocelyn Chang,
former Academy student, another winner
performed the first movement of the
Mozart Concerto No. 4 in D Major.
Both winners are students of Academy
String Chair, Kent Coleman. As a
result of her essays and audition
tape, Lindsay will be awarded a full
sized violin for as long as she needs
it from Tom Godes through his Godes
String Instrument Library Trust in
Minnesota.

Ashalyn Sims, 17, pianist (Willard Schultz),
singer (Malya Muth), was awarded
a Certificate of Honor for Outstanding
Achievement in Music from Cascade
Symphony Music Director, Michael
Miropolsky.
Ashalyn was also chosen for the part
of the elder sister in Edmonds-Woodway
HS pending production of "Fiddler on
the Roof."

Four Academy

been accepted into the Seattle Symphony
Young Composer Workshop by Resident
Composer, Samuel Jones.
December 2004
Lauren McLaren won the Seattle Youth
Symphony Young Composer Competition.
She will write a piece for a large
wind ensemble for an April Performance.
Lauren also won 3rd place in the National
Young Composers Competition of
MTNA.

(4th Avenue) in their NOON PIANO
SERIES.
October 14 Conductor & cellist,
Sean Glenn, 15, will conducted the
orchestra at Edmonds-Woodway High School
in the Grand Hall at 7pm.

1:00 PM Pianists, Yukihide Nakada, Denis

and Ashalyn Sims performed at Bellevue
Square as part of the PACE Event
promoting the new Bellevue Performing
Arts Center. PACE made a generous
contribution to our Scholarship Fund
for our participation.
