Message from President title graphic.

“In a world of economic, political and personal disintegration,
music is not a luxury but a necessity, not simply because it is
therapeutic nor because it is the “universal language”, but
because it is the persistent focus of man’s intelligence,
aspiration and good will.”
Robert Shaw  (1916-1999)

Persistence, intelligence and aspiration are significant qualities that support the work of gifted young artists at the Academy.  Students are blest with innate talent, supportive parents, superb studio teachers, and a pre-college curriculum capable of transforming them into disciplined, knowledgeable and accomplished artists.  To attend Academy concerts and recitals is to experience the miracle of serious students in the process of acquiring and demonstrating formidable skills.  These skills are learned early on in the innovative Children’s Division and honed to a fine point in the Pre-College Division, where advanced music studies, chamber music and solo experiences are undertaken. Small classes, taught and coached by the region’s top performers and composers, assure the personal attention needed to master the literature and materials of music.

Academy enrollment has grown to 120 students, performing as soloists, chamber musicians and members of the Academy Chamber Orchestra.  To accommodate the anticipated growth in enrollment, we will be offering evening music studies, and rehearsals, beginning in the Fall of 2009.

"ACADEMY ARTISTS PRESENT" is our new monthly concert series, beginning in the Fall, 2009, with students, alumni, faculty, and guest artists performing throughout the region.

THIS IS THE CHALLENGE
Preparing the emergence of tomorrow’s artists means admitting the most promising young musicians today.

THIS IS THE ACADEMY’S CHALLENGE
Seventeen thousand dollars in scholarships were awarded this past year.  The Academy is still building the funds to sustain this aid for the long term, and we plan to continue our commitment.
As enrollments continue to grow in good and bad economic times, it is our intention that no promising young musician be turned away for lack of funds.  Every gift helps meet that challenge.  Please be generous in your support.

A grateful student body, staff, parents and faculty thank you for your generosity and your recognition of love’s labor!
